Shinobu Suzuki, the founder of POLA, taught himself how to create a hand cream, using only a mortar and pestle, for his wife who was suffering from rough hands.

Let’s start these new habits today! 1. Put an appropriate amount of hand cream in your palms and rub them together to warm the cream and spread it throughout. Apply to the back of your hands as well, and blend it in. 2. Entwine your hands tightly and ensure the cream is spread between each finger as well. 3. Rub up and down the sides of each finger as if to envelop them. This simple extra step will refresh your hands. 4. Blend in cream at the base of your fingernails and cuticles. Massage with the balls of your thumb as if drawing circles, and push both sides of your nail bed to finish. 5. Push the base between each finger in order from pinky to thumb. Push it in as if to relieve the area where the bones of your index finger and thumb cross. It should be slightly painful, but in a good way.
